
ServePremier Education partnered with NCSS and leading academic and research organizations to bring 61 students together for three days of STEM research, leadership, innovation, and collaboration.

From July 16–18, 2026, ServePremier Education was proud to partner with the National Consortium of Secondary STEM Schools (NCSS), Fulton Science Academy (FSA), Tech North Atlanta, Emory University, and the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) to support the 2026 NCSS Student Leadership & Research Conference. Over three inspiring days, 61 students from leading STEM schools across the United States gathered to present original research, connect with STEM professionals, develop leadership skills, and explore cutting-edge innovation.
A Meaningful Beginning at Fulton Science Academy
The conference opened on the evening of July 16 at Fulton Science Academy with registration, campus tours, a welcome dinner, and opening remarks from school leadership. Students immediately began building connections with peers from across the country while experiencing FSA's innovative STEM learning environment.
Inspiring Students Through Research and Public Health
Friday's program began with an engaging keynote presentation by Dr. Jodie Guest of Emory University's Department of Public Health. Her presentation sparked thoughtful discussions on STEM leadership, ethics, and responsibility, with students asking insightful questions throughout the session.
The enthusiasm continued long after the keynote concluded, as students lined up to continue conversations with Dr. Guest individually. Their curiosity and genuine desire to learn reflected the passion that defined the entire conference.
Student Research Takes Center Stage
Following the keynote, students presented original research projects during two research presentation sessions.
More than simply showcasing their work, presenters engaged in meaningful discussions with educators, researchers, and fellow students. Each project also included a QR code that allowed attendees to submit written feedback electronically. Following the conference, every presenter received individualized comments and evaluations to help strengthen future research and presentation skills.

These opportunities for authentic peer and expert feedback are among the conference's most valuable experiences, encouraging students to think critically, communicate effectively, and continually refine their work.

Showcasing Student Innovation
During lunch, members of the Fulton Science Academy Astronomy Society demonstrated several remarkable student-led initiatives, including:
- Mini-satellite development
- Deep-sky astrophotography
- Model aircraft engineering
- Rocketry
- Additional astronomy and aerospace research projects
The presentation highlighted the extraordinary opportunities available to students when curiosity is paired with mentorship and hands-on STEM learning.
Leadership & Entrepreneurship
Friday afternoon shifted focus from research to leadership during the Tech North Atlanta STEM Leadership & Entrepreneurship Forum.

The panel featured Tech North Atlanta CEO Karen Cashion, entrepreneurs, startup founders, innovators, and Dr. Norman "Storm" Robinson III, Associate Director of Georgia Tech's Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC). Together, they shared insights into innovation, entrepreneurship, emerging technologies, and the future of STEM careers.
Artificial intelligence quickly became one of the central themes of discussion, prompting thoughtful questions from students about both the opportunities and responsibilities surrounding AI's growing role in society.
The day concluded with a barbecue dinner and networking reception, allowing students to continue conversations with presenters and professionals in a relaxed setting.

Experiencing STEM Research at Georgia Tech Research Institute
On Saturday, participants traveled to the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) for an immersive look at advanced research and real-world STEM applications.
Students explored several of GTRI's premier research facilities, including:
- Information Security Operations Center (ISOC)
- Robotarium
- Advanced Manufacturing Pilot Facility (AMPF)
These behind-the-scenes experiences provided students with firsthand exposure to cybersecurity, robotics, advanced manufacturing, and the interdisciplinary research shaping tomorrow's technologies.

Celebrating Student Achievement
The conference concluded with a closing luncheon and awards ceremony, where every student participant received a commemorative glass plaque recognizing their outstanding research, professionalism, and participation.
The event celebrated not only academic achievement, but also the collaboration, curiosity, and leadership demonstrated throughout the conference.
